The Japan Foundation invites emerging film programmers and screening professionals to apply for:

About the Program
The Japan Foundation has launched WA Project 2.0, a decade-long initiative to build meaningful people-to-people connections between ASEAN and Japan. As part of this initiative, An Open Draft aims to foster the next generation of film curators and screening professionals across ASEAN and Japan.
The program offers a two-phase experience:
Phase 1: Tokyo Workshop (24 Oct – 1 Nov 2025)
- A hands-on workshop on film programming
- Presentations, lectures, and discussions
- Networking with international film professionals
- Participation in key events at Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF)
Phase 2: Local Film Events (from Jan 2026)
- Organize your own screening program or film-related event in your home country
- Share Japanese cinema with your community and deepen cultural exchange

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆
Applicants must:
- Be based in Japan or one of the following ASEAN countries:
- Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam
- Be around 45 years old or younger, with up to 15 years of professional experience
- Have curated or helped organize at least two screening events/projects
- Commit to full participation in both program phases
- Have a high level of English proficiency (intermediate or above)

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱
The Japan Foundation will cover:
- Discount economy airfare to and from Japan
- Accommodation and meals
- Travel insurance
- Access to TIFF events and workshops
- Other program-related expenses
Participants will need to cover domestic travel to/from the nearest airport and unrelated personal expenses.
