Plastic Dinoland: An Art Exhibition for All Ages Featuring Sculptures of Dinosaurs Created from Unwanted Toys by Fuji Hiroshi
Hanoi, Vietnam – The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam proudly presents “Plastic Dinoland,” an engaging art exhibition by internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Fuji Hiroshi. Running from Saturday, March 15th to Sunday, June 1st, 2025, this exhibition offers a thought-provoking experience for both children and adults, showcasing vibrant dinosaur and animal sculptures crafted from a vast collection of discarded toys collected in Japan.
Fuji’s work explores the complex relationship between consumerism, waste, and the environment. Since the 1970s, he has been fascinated by the pervasiveness of plastic in our lives. His ongoing “Kaekko Bazar” project, a toy exchange platform, revealed the sheer volume of unwanted plastic toys, inspiring him to transform these discarded objects into art. Fuji has collected over 50,000 toys, a small fraction of the global plastic waste problem.
“Plastic Dinoland” features a stunning large-scale installation of dinosaurs and other creatures, all meticulously constructed from these unwanted playthings. The exhibition draws a powerful connection between the plastic used to create the toys and the fossil fuels derived from prehistoric life, including dinosaurs, highlighting the cyclical nature of consumption and waste. Through his colorful and visually captivating creations, Fuji encourages viewers to reflect on the role of plastic in their own lives and consider its impact on the planet.
