A COMPREHENSIVE JAPAN KNOWLEDGE COMPETITION FOR VIETNAMESE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam is organizing the “Japan Quiz Championship 2026” for university students nationwide for the first time.
The competition covers a wide range of topics, including Japanese geography, history, society, culture, arts, language, popular culture such as anime and music, as well as Japan-Vietnam relations. Competing teams will challenge one another to determine the trio of students with the most comprehensive knowledge of Japan.
Each team consists of three students currently enrolled at the same university. Team members may come from different faculties, majors, and academic years.
“Leave the Japanese-language questions to me!”
“History and society are my strong suits!”
“Anime and music are my area of expertise!”
Three members with different strengths can come together and form a truly formidable team!
The language of the competition is Vietnamese. Some questions, however, will test participants’ knowledge of the Japanese language or require answers to be given in Japanese. Therefore, teams with Japanese language proficiency will have a certain advantage. Nevertheless, students who do not know Japanese are also welcome to participate. As long as you are interested in and passionate about Japan, you can take on the challenge regardless of your field of study.
The Regional Qualifying Rounds will be held in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, featuring a variety of question types and competition formats, including True/False questions, buzz-in questions, four-option multiple-choice questions, topic-selection questions, and questions based on audio or visual materials. The top-performing teams from each regional round will advance to the Final Round in Hanoi.
Most notably, the champion team will be awarded the opportunity to visit Japan!
In addition, a variety of attractive prizes will be presented to participating teams and those achieving outstanding results.
So, which university will claim the championship title in this memorable inaugural edition of the competition?
Gather your friends, form a team of three, and take on the challenge of conquering your knowledge of Japan together!
