The highly acclaimed Japanese mime actor, Iimuro Naoki, comes back to Vietnam

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam shares the pleasure of hosting a pantomime performance “MIME SOLO ACT: time of mime” again in Hanoi and for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City in June 2011.

Learned mime under Marcel Marceau, the founder of modern pantomime, Iimuro Naoki has been actively performing in plethora of festivals in the world, getting awards both in Japan and overseas.

His silent movements penetrate language barrier and inspire us not only laughs but also the depth of stories. Last year’s his performance both in Hanoi and Hue (as a part of Hue Festival 2010) not only triggered big laughter from the audience but also moved their hearts.

With tremendous numbers of requests from the previous audience and those who missed his last year’s performance, we decided to bring him back to Vietnam, not only to Hanoi but also to Ho Chi Minh City this time.

The highlight of his performance in Hanoi is a part of the acts entitled “A World in Balance”, in which he received the Gold Medal at the 3rd World Delphic Games in 2009. The highlight of his performance in Ho Chi Minh City is, on the other hand, a part of the acts entitled “Angel”, in which his slow motion successfully invites you to the dream-like scene in the depth of the sea.

We hope that this show will entertain not only adults but also children with its universal body language, which is sublimed in the art of silence.

For the performance in Hanoi, the ticket is available at 50,000 VND (20,000 VND for students) at the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam (27 Quang Trung, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi). To commemorate the premier show in Ho Chi Minh City, the performance in HCMC is free of admission. The free admission tickets are available at Youth World Theatre (125 Cong Quynh, Nguyen Cu Trinh, Q1, HCMC).

Performance Time: Approximately 70 minutes
*Children over 6 years old require tickets.
*Children under 5 years old are not recommended to enter the venue as the performance is noise-sensitive.
