People in every era have loved flowers, but Japanese predecessors in ikebana felt that flowers were not only beautiful but could reflect the passing of time and the feelings in their own hearts. When people sense plants’ unspoken words and silent movements, they intensify their impressions through form, a form which becomes ikebana, a unique art of Japanese tradition.
We arrange plants cut and removed from nature so that they are filled with new beauty when placed in a new environment. Rather than simply re-create the shape a plant had in nature, we can create with branches, leaves, and flowers a new form that holds our impression of a plant’s beauty as well as the marks of our own spirit.
Assigned as a Cultural Envoy by the Agency of Cultural Affairs of Japan, Mr. SASAKI Yasuhito, a Japanese Ikebana professor from one of the most long-standing Ikebana schools in Japan -the Ikenobo, will tour Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore for introducing Ikebana. He will have a series of presentations of flower arrangement in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi this September.
On the auspicious occasion of the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long- Hanoi, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam proudly presents a Demonstration and Workshop on IKEBANA” to the Vietnamese audience in Hanoi on September 16th to 19th. The events open free to the public. For workshops, pre-registration is required (see the contact below for your registration.)
