The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam shares the delight of hosting Japanese Film Festival: Comedy 2012 from 25 October – 1 December 2012 in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet City.
Japanese, businessmen in particular, are believed in overseas to be very serious and relatively weak in telling witty jokes to foreigners. In an extreme case, some even believe Japanese look like Noh masks with never showing any emotional expressions on faces. But of course, we tell jokes to each other, laughing at comical dramas on TV, on stage, and on film. In short, our senses of humors are packed and enriched in various cultural products including films.
In this year’s Japanese Film Festival, we introduce the diversity of comedy in hope to share our laughs and smiles with Vietnamese audience. 8 popular and smash-hit films all made in 2000s are carefully selected to showcase the variety of comical senses in Japanese film.
All films will be screened with both English and Vietnamese sub-titles (English sub-titles and Vietnamese voice-over in HCMC and Phan Thiet). Admission is free but the audience is advised to obtain the free tickets in advance in Hanoi. In Phan Thiet and HCMC, no tickets are required. First-come, first-served.
